THE COTTAGE

This cottage called Backen (the Hill), earliest dating is from 1700…

It was designed by Royal architect Jean de la Vallée (1624-1696) as a guardshouse along the King’s Road ‘Eriksgatan’, belonging to the castle Öster Malma. There exists an identical house on the other side of the called Bruket. The cottage was purchased by the Rundgren family in 1993. Today it is owned by my partner Anna Linnea Andersdotter Rundgren.

Here you can find more pictures and designs of the cottage.

THE GARDEN

The garden is rich with flowering plants from generations of gardeners. Unfortunately, much of the soil has washed down the hill towards the house, leaving the bedrock visible in places. However, this has created a large variation from the dry rocky knolls, to lush wet patches. We have in recent years established two proper veggie gardens, multiple smaller beds, plenty of compost piles, and a fair bit of berry bushes. An old plum tree adorns the center of the garden space, flowering beautifully in Spring, and bearing lots of yummy fruit ready to eat in late Summer – early Autumn.

THE GREENHOUSE

Our multifunctional greenhouse, which offers a nice lounging space, cozy shower, and lots of space for plants.
